The Roswell Police Department is mourning the sudden loss of one of their officers.
Lieutenant Scott Walters, 41, died of a heart attack Thursday.
“We are all really distraught over his sudden passing yesterday afternoon,” said a spokesperson with Roswell Police.
Roswell Police released the following statement Friday morning:
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden and unexpected death of Lt. Scott Walters. Lt. Walters served honorably and with distinction for the city of Roswell and its residents from January, 1997 until October 23, 2014. Lt. Walters most recently commanded Roswell Police Department's Uniform Patrol “C” Squad, but his influence reached well beyond one squad. Lt. Walters will be dearly missed and has left a void in the Police Department that can never be filled. Arrangements will be announced as soon as we have the information. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
