With more deaths from gunfire and agencies experiencing multiple line of duty deaths, one would think that the donations to help these Heroes and their families are pouring in. However that is not the case and donations are at an all time low which means we cannot provide the necessary assistance our Heroes so desperately need. We also make custom designed t-shirts, decals and challenge coins for fundraisers.
We can also setup donation campaigns on our site or on Rallyup.com to help rally donations for your cause or event. We can do this two ways: 1)Donation campaigns are managed by Heroes Memorial Foundation and disbursed by us to the approved recipient of your choosing. Please note that we must accept donations that meet our mission of helping our Heroes and their families and disburse those funds to either the family, the agency or another non-profit organization. A 2.5% fee is deducted from donation campaigns to cover the credit card processing fee, that is the only fee that is deducted from the campaign. If you use other donation sites, they take 5% plus PayPal fees from each donation you receive, Rallyup.com allows the donor to pay the fees on top of the donation to allow for 100% of the desired donation to be used for the fundraising purpose. Heroes Memorial Foundation provides these services to help reduce tax liability to our Hero's Family and provide accountability of how much money is received and disbursed and to whom it is disbursed to. Donors giving donations that Heroes Memorial Foundation collects, receive a receipt for tax deduction purposes.
2) We have certified accounts with GoFundMe, Bravelets and Booster.
Donations collected by individuals can create credibility issues, tax liability and those making the donations to those individuals do not receive a tax deductible contribution. Using our 501(c)3 status we are able to take donations that are tax deductible and provide those funds to the families or non-profit organizations as requested.
Anytime there is a Line of Duty Death, we get bombarded with multiple GOFUNDME accounts that claim to represent the family. Please note that we will NOT share any GOFUNDME account that is not approved by the agency or is not going to a CERTIFIED CHARITY. We are a certified charity on GOFUNDME which you are welcome to use and we will disperse the funds to the family. Please note that we do not start fundraisers without approval but we do understand that many people want to help by starting fundraisers immediately. Unfortunately there are some folks that are out to defraud our Heroes and their families and by using a certified charity there are federal laws that require the chosen charity to disclose all financial documentation. If you would like to use our certified charity status for your GOFUNDME, you will need our EIN which is 46-2543359, we are a 501(c)3 Tax Exempt Public Charity and our mission is H.E.R.O.E.S. - Helping Emergency Responders Overcome Extreme Situations.
